When it unveils the next-generation iPhone, Apple will rebrand the handsets as iPhone 6 Air and iPhone 6 Pro, and the devices will account for about two-thirds of the company’s holiday-quarter sales this year, according to a report from Taipei (via GforGames).
Apple has just placed orders for its next-generation iPhone, but a new report from Taipei already projects high sales numbers for the fourth quarter of 2014.
According to the report, Apple will sell about 46.5 million iPhone 6 units in the fourth quarter alone. The interesting aspect of the sales forecast signed by Nomura Securities is that the iPhone 6 will account for roughly 73% of all iPhone sales. This also means the analyst firm expects iPhone sales around the 61 million mark in the holiday quarter of 2014.
Nomura Securities has also revived an earlier report claiming that Apple would alter the branding of iPhones. The analyst firm has heard that the 4.7-inch iPhone will be called the iPhone 6 Air (a name previously reported to belong to the bigger model), and the 5.5-inch model will allegedly be named the “iPhone 6 Pro”.
Furthermore, the bigger the iPhone’s screen gets, the bigger its price will be: while the iPhone 6 Air may be around $650, the entry level iPhone 6 Pro could cost $750.
