Here’s What Apple’s ‘iHome’ Might Look Like [Concept]
Earlier this week, a report by Financial Times claimed that Apple is planning to launch new software for the Smart Home dubbed ‘iHome’, in an effort to take on rivals Google and Samsung, and will present it at the highly anticipated Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) which kicks off next week. But that rumour was debunked yesterday by Brian Chen of the New York Times.
Today, an ‘iHome’ concept by designer Martin Hajek shows us what Apple’s home automation device might look like, if it ever came to real life.

Clearly, the device takes its design cues from the iPhone 5s. From three colour options to the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, it looks pretty much like a miniature version of Apple’s current flagship smartphone. A modified iOS version running on ‘iHome’ shows icons for Thermostat, Energy, Lights, Safety and Music on the homescreen. The device, that can be controlled by other iOS devices, comes in silver, gold and space grey colours.
Here are some more images of the concept. Tell us what you think of this one!

I appreciate designers effort but how is it a concept? All I see is iphone 5s turned into square shape. I’m not a fan of these “concepts” that come out from time to time.
Dude… Totally agree with you. This thing looks like crap.
Not everything Apple does has to look like an iPhone.
I know right?? Horrible looking.
disgrace to design
i think it looks cool. bring it on. and, make a irrigation controller while you are at it…
I’ve said it and I’ll say it again and again:
Do these so-called designers actually design anything, or they just slap whatever they have out there onto something else and call it their design?
Especially this guy.
They all try to base it on current Apple designs, to give it that unified look. But the dork forgot the edit out the front facing camera and ear speaker, which obviously won’t have any purpose in a control panel. lol
I would buy 3 tomorrow for my house if they came to market. I have 2 Nest thermostats and they’d be gifted away in a heartbeat for this.
