In a blog post from Google’s Webmaster team, the search giant is trying to push web developers to design modern websites for modern mobile devices.
A common issue for web users on mobile devices is that some webpages require web technologies that aren’t supported by the mobile platform you are using. For example, Adobe Flash is not supported on iOS devices or Android devices running version 4.1 or earlier.
“Starting today, we will indicate to searchers when our algorithms detect pages that may not work on their devices.”
If you use Google’s search on your mobile device and a resulting webpage is using technologies (like Adobe Flash) that the mobile platform does not support, you will get a result that looks like this:
Google is pushing web developers to use HTML5 when creating a webpage. Doing this allows users to view your content using any device.
“Fortunately, making websites that work on all modern devices is not that hard: websites can use HTML5 since it is universally supported, sometimes exclusively, by all devices.”
