Rogers Promo Offers Prepaid Data Plan for Tablets, 1GB for $60/Year

If you have a cellular iPad, Rogers currently has a promo where if you activate your device or change your existing plan, you can get 1GB of data for $60, prepaid for the year. Data overages will be charged at $0.05/MB.

This works out to 83.3 MB for $5/month. Normal month-to-month tablet data plans start at $5/month for only 10MB. The fine print says the offer ends February 3, 2015. Unused data will not be carried over.

If you are using your iPad for extremely light usage or as a dedicated GPS, this data plan might be worth considering. But at only 1GB, it will be consumed pretty quickly over LTE networks if you’re not careful.

No problem, give me a landscape without competition and then have a goverment regulator give me a protected market that would restrict competition as I build out my wireless telecom infrastructure. There would be investment capital lining up at the door to finance this venture under those conditions.

You guys have to remember something. Everyone that check these websites are an elite class of tech users. There are people out there (i.e. My wife) who even on her iPhone uses > 100MB a month.

Yup. The point here is compared to regular month-to-month plans, this offer is cheaper.

If only any of these companies had even ONE plan that was fair to us ‘elite tech users’ then I guarantee you we’d all be saying “wow this is a good value for my wife!” instead of “here’s another s**t plan from a s**t company.”

So your wife still uses too much data for this plan…

LOL… That has got to be the most ignorant comment yet. I know plenty of friends that are no where near “elite tech”
status, and they use more than 1GB per month. There are many non-tech
users that STREAM video/audio to their phones now-a-days, and you
don’t have to be a wannabe “tech elitist” to do so. Just because your wife uses less than 100MB a month, doesn’t mean every else is the same.

To all you Rogers paid pion trolls Suck my dick splash. Rogers should use your pittance to lower our bills instead of feeding you maggots. That being said. Rogers and the Canadian telecos are just a inch of greedy money grabbing thieves. Every time I go to the US I’m just gutted by the huge difference in what it costs to have a cell phone!!! I can understand a little difference but its clear to anyone in the know that what these protected sycophants are doing to us by their insane rates is like not only keeping the golden eggs but killing the goose to get the meat from it. Open up to American competition ASAP since our telecos clearly have abused their given position.
Screw ROGERS et al.
