Opportunistic eBay Sellers List 128GB iPhone 6 Plus Pre-Orders for $5000
The iPhone 6 Plus is rumoured to be in short supply and in high demand once pre-orders kick off this Friday, September 12 in nine countries only, which includes Canada (along with the USA, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Singapore, the UK, Australia and Japan), to go along with a launch on Friday, September 19.
That leaves out a majority of the world on the outside looking in, wanting to eagerly jump on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. For those in countries omitted, eBay is the next best chance to nab an iPhone within a week of the launch. Mainland China, one of Apple’s biggest markets, was left out of the initial launch (the Hong Kong Apple Store is going to be flooded with resellers).
Some eBayer sellers have started to list pre-order auctions (as expected) and the prices for the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus model can be had for $4,999.95 USD for some Buy It Now listings. This model in Canada costs $1079 and $969 in the USA—so that’s one heck of a markup. Other listings also show expensive prices ranging from $1000 to $5000.
Of course, these listings are also ‘Best Offer’ types too, where people can submit their own prices. Sellers of course are testing the waters with their pricing, as rumours claim the larger model could be in short supply (we’ll find out at midnight this Friday). The more expensive iPhone 6 Plus comes with a few extra features, such as real optical image stabilization, a larger battery and a one-handed software mode.
