Reservations for iPhone 6 Units Surpass 4 Million Units in China [Report]

Following initial reports of high demand for iPhone 6 models in China – 2 million pre-orders in just a day – the Chinese Tencent Digital News has updated its numbers (via Fortune): carrier data from companies processing reservations shows that reservations have surpassed 4 million iPhone 6 units.

IPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

This year Apple introduced two differently sized iPhones 6 models, so from the perspective of analysts the question is which one scored best, as Apple doesn’t disclose such details. Fortunately for data hunters, the aforementioned companies did break down the reservations they received and the demand for the bigger iPhone 6 Plus units seems to be only a fraction higher than for the “smaller”, 4.7-inch iPhone.

In numbers this means that the iPhone 6 Plus accounted for 1,189,083 reservations, and the iPhone 6 for 1,106,379, according to data supplied by Jingdong and e-commerce site.

Carriers and retailers will officially start taking pre-orders on October 10, and the actual reservations system will go live on Apple’s website on October 14.

As Digitimes’ sources suggested, the demand for the iPhone 6 Plus seems to be higher, so it will account for roughly 60% of all iPhone 6 shipments.

Apple has rolled out the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in more than 30 countries so far, with the target being 115 countries by the end of the year.
