Rogers 18.0 Carrier Settings Update Released for Some iPhone Users [u]

Rogers has pushed out their 18.0 carrier settings update for iPhone users, for those on iOS 8.1 beta 2. There’s no word what changes this latest update brings, but most likely it includes network optimizations for iOS, as we’ve seen in the past.

Rogers iphone carrier update 18 0

iPhoneinCanada.ca reader crosseyedmofo says after this update was installed on iOS 8.1 beta 2, he is seeing “speeds that have doubled for me on LTE” on his iPhone 6 Plus.

We’ve reached out to Rogers for clarification on this update and will update this post accordingly. Let us know if you’re seeing this 18.0 update and whether you are noticing any changes.

Thanks crosseyedmofo

Update: Looks like this is only pushing out for those on iOS 8.1 beta 2, as suspected.

That’s because your running ios 7.1.2.
Ios 8 brings v17, and 8.1 brings v18.

It’s very annoying trying to read your website when your ads open the App Store and close safari to advertise the app.

Ironically, iPhone in Canada’s website is not very mobile friendly like many sites especially those who use Disqus

I would use the Weblock app. I think it’s currently free in the AppStore, and block all annoying ads automatically.

Was it promised by Rogers? So far I thought it was only T-Mobile in the US and some company in England, but I hope I’m wrong.

It was ‘confirmed’ in this post here, but I now find this post to be highly suspect: https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carriers/rogers/rogers-ios-8-wifi-calling-feature/

No response from Rogers on Twitter that would confirm or deny the authenticity of this report. Zero follow-up on the part of iPhone in Canada.

Thanks for refreshing our memory, Andrew 🙂

That post was from Rogers. If it wasn’t, surely they would tell us to take it down. The spokeswoman who sent us the statement was Elise Ondet. You can ask her yourself.

have a great day andrewe 😀

Thank you, Gary. I was very much hoping my comment would compel you to provide more details.

I am really disappointed that Rogers won’t even acknowledge their statement: “We’ll support the iOS 8 Wi-Fi calling feature when it becomes available in Canada.” Rogers: If not now, when?

Did they ever follow up with you? 3 months after iOS8 and 6 months after announcing support, still nothing.

Was this just a bait and switch to keep iPhones users with Rogers?
