Today, Facebook has announced a new app for iOS and Android called “Facebook Groups.” The app is designed to let Facebook users access and interact with any Facebook groups they have joined.

“People use Facebook Groups every day to stay in touch with family, collaborate on projects, plan trips and offer support to friends.

Today, we’re introducing a new Facebook Groups app that helps people share faster and more easily with all the groups in their life.”

Facebook has long had a group function built-in, which allows friends, family, colleagues, and more to come together and have a custom sharing experience. A group can be open, closed, or private.

According to the blog post from the social networking giant, the new dedicated Groups app is designed to help people share content quickly and easily with all of their groups. The app brings forward some of the group-specific features that are buried in the standard Facebook app.

Upon launching the app, you will be greeted with a view of all your groups. By default, your most recently visited group will be located at the top. Users also have the ability to create new groups directly from the app. There is also a discover feature (represented by the compass on the top menu bar) which suggests new groups to people based on pages they have liked.

Facebook Groups is available as a free download from the App Store. The app requires a device running iOS 7 or later and has been optimized for the iPhone 5, 6, and 6 Plus.

Wow Facebook has completely lost touch with reality. The simplicity of a single program/interface has defied them and instead they prefer a fragmented user experience.
