How to Make Your iPhone Dimmer Beyond the Lowest Brightness Setting [VIDEO]

A cool guide of animated GIFs published by Justin Searls on Medium shows you how to turn down your iPhone’s brightness to an even dimmer level than its lowest setting within iOS 8. This can prove quite handy if you like to read on your iPhone or iPad in bed late at night and don’t want to disturb the person lying next to you (or if you have to hold a baby at night).

Also, it is believed that after staring at a brighter screen at night can sometimes make it difficult to fall asleep. So, simply follow the steps below to achieve an even-dimmer-than-dim setting on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 1:

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom on your iPhone.

Step 2:

Now toggle Zoom on, then do a triple tap with 3-fingers to bring up a translucent modal configuration overlay. From this overlay, tap “Choose Filter” then “Low Light”. Finally, drag the Zoom slider all the way to the left:

Step 3:

Once done, tap away from the modal, then tap “Zoom Region” and select “Full Screen Zoom”.

Step 4:

Lastly, go back to the top-level Accessibility settings, scroll down and assign the “Accessibility Shortcut” to “Zoom”.

Now, when you triple-click the home button you’ll see your screen dim to previously non-dimmable levels of dimness. To return to the default settings, just triple-click your home button again.

That’s it, enjoy!
