High-End Parisian Department Store Will Reportedly Feature Apple Watch Display
According to several news outlets based in France, Apple may be building displays for the Apple Watch at high-end department store Galeries Lafayette.
Mac4Ever reports that the display will be located on the first floor of the department store. The report notes that construction of the display began at the beginning of February, with an completion date scheduled for before the device’s launch in April.
The work on the Apple Watch display has been hidden and is reportedly being overseen by Apple’s new chief of retail Angela Ahrendts. With this move, Apple is clearly marketing the Apple Watch from a fashion standpoint, in addition to a technological standpoint.
Apple has reportedly placed 5 to 6 million orders for the initial run of the device. Analysts have predicted that they 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will dominate the revenue of the wearable.
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the development of the device is on schedule. Apple is scheduled to release the Apple Watch in the United States in April 2015 with a starting price tag of $349. The device will come in three models, including a standard model, sports model, and a luxury 18-karat gold Watch Edition.
