Apple Acquires Camel Audio

According to information found on the website of UK corporate registry site Companies House, Apple is the new owner of Camel Audio, a popular music plug-in and effects maker. The company’s profile was recently updated with some notable changes: The address was changed to 100 New Bridge Street – Apple’s London address – and the sole director became Heather Joy Morrison, who, by the way, is an Apple lawyer, as highlighted by MacRumors.

What made Camel Audio popular was its range of plug-ins, synthesizers, effects, and sound libraries, all of them packed into a software package called Alchemy, which retailed for $249. For that money, customers received 5.5 GB of samples, more than 1,000 sounds, and much more.

Interestingly, from January 8, 2015, Camel removed access to its software from the website. The company will provide email support until July 7, 2015, and downloads for previous purchases, but that was the last official message.

Apple has not yet officially confirmed the purchase, so the company’s plans with Camel Audio are under wraps. MacRumors speculates that Alchemy could be included in a future version of Logic Pro or GarageBand.
