30% + , that where the stick shock is. The pricing in USD was not bad at all, but add the market up and it socks. I would have bought a gold version if not for the exchange lrate, just kidding. I still want a steel version but Apple might have price me out of the link Bracelet. All well I hope there is going to be after market Bracelet or I can rig my old Tag Heuer Bracelet to fit it.

Looks like the best exchange rate is the $19k 42mm Edition @1.267 and the Watch on rubber $699 @ 1.273. 🙂

Of course you are factoring in the duty less your exemption when you declare your purchases as you cross back into Canada. Plus the tax on the declared value. Just saying. 😉

Crazy prices, but Apple will sellout.

This warrants mentioning in two threads. Please don’t waste your money on this thing. It’s a gimmick. 18 hours of battery life with “normal usage”!? That means for many there will be frequent days where it dies before you get it home. Battery anxiety all day, everyday. This thing royally sucks. And yes, an Apple Watch is not timeless like a luxury watch. You’re not going to keep it around forever. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

From The Verge:

“Apple is really running into the same problem as Pebble and Android Wear — sure, you can put apps on this thing, but you’ve got a bigger screen, a better battery, and faster processor in your pocket.

So much of this is just: that thing you could do on your phone, you can do on your watch. I get that it’s nice to have a thing on your wrist sometimes, and not have to fumble around in your pockets. But am I going to want to spend $350+ for the privilege every couple years?”

Women is obviously their priority. A watch is basically an accessory, and Apple Watch is being marketed as fashionable. Notice most of their showing on recent magazines are worn by females? Even the guess speaker is a woman! An unordinary one too! Get the hidden message?

It’s an assumption that a new one will come out every year. Maybe the Watch will be on a 2-year upgrade cycle. It’s reasonable to expect people won’t upgrade every year.

I was clearly quite wrong. I am the idiot.

Although, based on the comments here, it now appears that the general consensus is that anyone who is willing to spend that kind of money on a watch (especially one that is going to be out of date in a year) is likely not right in the head, or just has more money than god).

That’s the plan… sort-of. I need a new notebook, so… Parallels on a notebook for out-of-office work, demos, etc.

My high-end Windows PC, though, is not yet ready to be tossed just because of a faulty 3rd party component and a suddenly temperamental BIOS. A Mac can’t replace it (maybe a Mac Pro could). One day…

Those prices are nuts.. realistically why pay $500 for a 1.5 inch screen to browse instagram or your eBay listings. You still need to hold your phone with you.. might as well JUST use your phone. Look how dumb you will look trying to text people back by yelling at your wrist. Just use your phone….

Yeap, pretty steep for this first watch/band (in my case 1299$ for the 48mm/steel band), but the real question is: will this (449$) steel band still fit the next gen watch (and 3rd, 4th, etc.) ? If that’s the case, then we’ll only have to pay a new watch and keep the band, so 2nd, 3th…. will be more affordable.

Who is actually going to use this? What is the point?

I dont get what this watch actually ‘does’? Why would I want to do any of my normal phone related activities on a smaller, more awkward to use screen?

Add to that that I hate wearing a watch, often break them and this particular watch looks very bulky on the wrist and it seems like a very expensive paper weight.
