‘Apple Watch 2’ Said to Include FaceTime Camera, Improved Wi-Fi [Rumour]

Citing people familiar with Apple’s plans, 9to5Mac reports that the company plans to incorporate a FaceTime camera, a new Wi-Fi chip, and to introduce other, high-priced models with the second-generation Apple Watch that is estimated to launch sometime next year.

In a rather interesting move, Apple is allegedly exploring the possibility of integrating a FaceTime camera into the top bezel of the second-generation Apple Watch. Imagine a world where you hold up your wrist for a lengthy period of time at an angle that makes you look presentable to have a video conversation with your friends. Oh, and more importantly, it should keep your battery life at about the same level as the first generation.

What seems more likely, though, is that Apple’s team is busy finding solutions to make the Apple Watch less reliant on the iPhone. The wearable currently provides few functionalities that work if your iPhone is out of range or dead (not always, though, from my experience).

The sources have told Mark Gurman that Apple may use a new, “more dynamic wireless chipset” in the Apple Watch 2, which would also enable a rumoured Find my Watch functionality (also looking forward to that).

Rumour has it that Apple is exploring other materials, and today Gurman’s sources corroborate that, spicing those whispers with additional price tags: Watches priced between $1000 and $10,000.

For that, we need to wait about a year, so don’t hold your breath.
