Rogers Says Mobilicity Acquisition, Shaw Spectrum Deal Officially Complete
Roger issued a press release this afternoon to announce it has “received all requisite governmental, creditor and court approvals and has completed the acquisitions of both Mobilicity and Shaw’s AWS wireless spectrum.”
After speculation Mobilicity was set to be acquired by TELUS (in yet another attempt) or Rogers, the latter made the announcement in late June it had purchased the wireless startup. The deal saw WIND Mobile also gain spectrum from the deal and Rogers finally acquire Shaw’s unused AWS spectrum. The Competition Bureau gave the deal the green light a day later, making this one of the fastest wireless transactions ever seen.
Industry Minister James Moore called the deals a “win for Canadian consumers.” A chart of the final spectrum changes can be seen below:
