Apple TV 4 Price Said to Debut at $149 or $199 for October Release

With Apple’s upcoming special event scheduled for September 9, all eyes are on the company and its expected debut of new iPhones, but more importantly an all-new Apple TV.

According to 9to5Mac, sources claims the next Apple TV will be priced at $149 or $199 USD, while the current third generation will remain:

According to sources, the fourth-generation Apple TV will be priced below $200, and is on track to become available in October. Apple executives are apparently still finalizing the price of the revamped living room device, but the latest options call for a starting price point of either $149 or $199, both higher than the third-generation Apple TV…

Sources also claim while the existing third generation Apple TV will get support for the company’s rumoured cable service, it will not get support for the App Store or Siri.

For Canadians, expect pricing to be higher than the US due to our lower Loonie, plus the lack of support for the cable TV service, as media here is tightly controlled by a few big players.

The next-gen Apple TV is said to debut with a new motion-sensitive controller that has both a touchpad and buttons, plus newer and more powerful hardware.
