Facebook for iOS Launches Support for Dynamic Text Settings

Facebook for iOS now supports Dynamic Text Size, which means font sizes within the app will reflect what you’ve chosen within your iOS settings. Added support for this feature rolled out this evening for some Facebook users including ourselves:

Apple debuted support for Dynamic Type with the launch of iOS 7. To change your font size in iOS 9, just go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size and drag the slider to your liking.

Facebook first announced support for Dynamic Text last week, noting the feature would debut for iPhone and iPad users, as “enabling text enlargement to enhance readability is a key part of helping Facebook connect the world.”

While the Android Facebook app and Facebook on the web have long supported Dynamic Text, the company explained supporting it on iOS was a “challenging technical implementation,” as text enlargement affected all parts of the app, so a general framework was created for teams to adopt and use. Next, after getting Dynamic Type into some “key” Facebook products, the team ran a small public beta to fine-tune the feature and then started to slowly roll it out to iOS users.

Let us know if you’re enjoying the added support of Dynamic Text within Facebook for iOS.

That’s actually pretty handy. I didn’t know that was even an optional thing for developers to support, I would have figured that would be standard in all apps.

Perhaps I’d know better if I actually changed my text size 😛
