Yes. The current 3rd gen costs $249.

yes but a lot of reviews say that the 3rd gen doesn’t add anything compelling.

This is truly a good price. And the 2nd generation unit is much improved.

Having said that, if your heating system is anything more than a standard single stage gas or electric furnace (most are) buy with caution. Heat pump and dual heat/cooling systems do not work very well with Nest.

The big problem with Nest and others is that they rely on outside temperatures taken from the Internet.

These kinds of sales tactics should be illegal. Amazon has been carrying the second gen model for $199 for the last 3 months… so its actually only $50 dollars off. Still a deal, but its shady to present it as though its $100 off, when the latest 3rd gen is what is actually $249.
