YouTube channel TLD posted a video yesterday showcasing just how well the new 12-inch MacBook (1.1GHz Core M, 8GB RAM, Intel HD 5300 graphics) can edit 4K video with Final Cut Pro X, compared to a higher powered 13-inch Asus Zenbook UX303 with an i7 2.5GHz processor, 12GB of RAM and a dedicated Nvidia GT940M graphics card, using Adobe Premiere Pro.
The video was made in response to channel LinusTechTips, which posed the question whether it was possible to edit 4K video on an ultrabook PC. Here’s the ultrabook trying to edit 4K video with Adobe Premiere Pro:

While the MacBook fared pretty well, it’s also a testament to the optimization of Final Cut Pro X versus Adobe Premiere Pro. Do you edit 4K video on your new MacBook?

Gary, I liked the results. No doubt FCPX is so optimized for OSX therefore it is possible. It is like butter It’s like iOS is made for iPhones or iMovie for iOS. The real question is if both machines r running same software but different hardware. Then how will the results fare? I would like TLD to do the same test running Premiere Pro on the MacBook.
