Apple Job Postings Seek Siri Engineers for Sports; Apple Watch Face Designers
Just in case you aren’t satisfied with the number of watch faces you have on your Apple Watch, here is some good news: the company is looking to expand its team with a software engineer responsible for building clock faces and complications. That’s something that will probably materialize in future software updates.
As detailed by the job description, Apple is specifically looking for an engineer with three-plus years of software development experience to join the Apple Watch — Clock Face team (via iPhoneHacks).
Since the launch of the Watch, Apple has added three additional clock faces in September (it was part of watchOS 2), but rumour has it that more clock faces are coming. The job listing underpins those whispers.
Other job listings spotted by VentureBeat reveal Apple’s plans to expand Siri’s knowledge about sports. There are four identical job listings with the title “Siri Software Engineer — Sports,” and the chosen applicants will work at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Besides a love for sports, artificial-intelligence (AI) experience is also a requirement for the job. The chosen people will integrate “live service providers,” possibly triggering more informational responses from Siri.
Apple has been expanding Siri’s knowledge on sports: while in iOS 6 Siri was able to pull standings, schedules, and player stats, a year later she was able to identify her favourite teams, and with iOS 9 Siri gained the ability to provide scores, schedules, and websites when you mentioned a team’s name.
