Well-connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities corroborates earlier rumours of dual cameras being exclusive to the next-generation 5.5-inch iPhone.

This means that if you are eyeing the 4.7-inch model, you may end up with a less sophisticated camera system. Dual-camera system rumours have been circulating for a while now, with Kuo being one of the voices claiming that Apple is experimenting with single- and dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus models.

New iPhone shipments to be capped by similar form factor as iPhone 6s & 6s Plus; top hardware upgrade is dual-camera (5.5-inch model only), though many competing models with dual-camera will launch soon, joining others already on the market; first impressions could underwhelm.

Considering Apple’s acquisition of LinX Technology, it sounds as though Apple plans to include that camera system into its higher-end iPhone.

In a note to investors obtained by MacRumors and AppleInsider, Kuo also said that he expects Apple to ship up to 95 million iPhone units in the first half of 2016. In the second half, though, shipments will be much higher: He predicts up to 115 million units for that period.

This means shipments will drop for the full calendar year below the 200 million mark if we consider the worst-case scenario (85 million + 105 million), but the major takeaway from this forecast is that Apple likely won’t meet Wall Street analyst estimates for this year, as analysts expected Apple to ship up to 230 million units.
