Alleged iPhone 7 Design Drawings Show Identical Height and Width to iPhone 6s

The iPhone 7 will have identical height and width to the iPhone 6s, according to a sketch allegedly showing the next-generation Apple handset obtained by French blog Nowhereelse.

The design leak comes from an unverified source and shows the iPhone 7 measures 138.3 mm (5.44 inches) in height and 67.1 mm (2.64 inches) in width, which matches exactly the currently available iPhone 6s. The sketch lacks the depth measurement.

Immediately visible on the sketch is the larger camera cut-out, suggesting Apple may add a larger sensor to the iPhone 7. The position and the size of the camera cut-out are consistent with an earlier alleged rear-shell leak, although we should add that these leaks come from the same source.

In the light of rumours of a dual-camera system, the sketch suggests that this feature could be limited to the bigger, 5.5-inch model.

Apple is widely expected to release the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus this fall. According to well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the handset won’t be as attractive as next year’s device, which is rather interesting, since that would mean Apple would discontinue its product redesign pattern as we know it and keep the same design form factor for a third consecutive year – another break away from the pattern we’ve seen so far.
