Ottawa Police Issue Over 600 Tickets During Canada Road Safety Week

According to a report from Ottawa Start, Ottawa Police issued over 600 tickets for traffic violations as a part of Canada Road Safety Week.

The tickets that were issued ranked from distracted driving to speeding. In a statement, Traffic Support Constable Jeff Shields said:

“Several initiatives were conducted over the eight day period. From impaired and distracted, driving to speeding and sharing the road with cyclists, we want to make sure everyone is safe on our roadways.

All road users are responsible for following the rules of the road. Whether you are driving, cycling or walking, give it your full attention; make road safety a part of your behaviour every day.”

During the Road Safety Week, 70 tickets were issued for distracted driving, 509 for speeding, 19 for ignoring stop signs, and 57 for running red lights.
