According to a new report from Business Insider, Apple is working on a new artificial intelligence system that will “wipe the floor” with all of its competitors.
The major improvement to Siri is said to come from the company’s acquisition of VocalIQ, a UK-based start-up that created artificial-intelligence software that helps computers and people speak to each other in a more natural dialogue.
Before getting acquired, VocalIQ tested their technology against Siri, Google Now, and Cortana. With a question like “Find a nearby Chinese restaurant with open parking and WiFi that’s kid-friendly” VocalIQ had a success rate over 90%. Google Now, Siri, and Cortana were only successful about 20% of the time.
VocalIQ apparently recorded about 10,000 dialogues to help it learn how people talk. Even with so few queries, it was able to beat Siri that takes 1 billion queries a week. Another difference is that VocalIQ is able to remember context forever, just like a person.
Apple is widely rumoured to be working on a product that would compete with Amazon’s Echo in the home. Some reports have speculated that the device could be a revised Apple TV where other reports have suggested that it may be more like a Bluetooth speaker or even have a camera for facial recognition.

After 5 years of waiting for a real AI, I think it’s about time.
I have been trying to make the most of Siri and Proactive lately, and I can say that I can hardly wait for it to be more powerful!
I use Siri for everything. I can’t remeber the last time I typed an iMessage. Siri does it all. One of the best things about using Siri so much is my home screen is nice and clean, minimal, with no apps on it. I included a screen shot of my home screen. It’s really nice, I love it. I get Siri to open apps, go to websites, search Google, do everything literally. The only thing Siri can’t do is close apps. I absoluetly love it!

There was a video floating around by engineers working on siri inside apple. maybe from last year’s wwdc. it was fairly impressive. Apple needs to kick up their artificial intelligence game. I want to be wow’ed apple. c’mon, you can do it!!!!

I have a slight speech impediment (stutter), so Siri often gives false positives… Because of the combination of me being a hardcore Apple fan and my stutter, it ends up being a very embarrassing situation for me every time I try to use it. Hope the new one is better, but I have a feeling I am always going to have some trouble. It’s kind of like a strong accent in a way…. I should also mention that my stutter is no “King’s speech”, or anything… It’s slight, but just enough to screw up my Siri interactions….
