PayByPhone iOS Parking App Gets Apple Pay Integration, New Design

PayByPhone for iOS is receiving an update today which will bring Apple Pay integration for Canada and the U.S., plus an all-new design. The parking app allows users to easily pay for parking from their smartphones, without the need to carry cash.

The forthcoming update, will also introduce location-based imagery and the option to pre-book parking spots, plus a new feature which tracks the walking distance from where you are to your parking spot.

Vancouver-based PayByPhone, will now also allows city transportation departments to send out messages for announcements, such as when parking is free on special days.

PayByPhone CEO Kush Parikh, told GeekWire, a new option coming means cars can be tagged by make and license plates, instead of just an individual parking spot.

“We can use profiles on the back end to charge accordingly,” adding “This is not new in the tech world, but for sure in the parking world. This capability, to me, is the first step in rendering meters and display machines completely obsolete.”

Over the past year, PayByPhone has grown by 2.5 million users, with a user base of over 12.5 million. The company processes over $300 million in parking payments annually, where it operates in North America, Europe and Australia.

PayByPhone currently processes over $300M in parking payments per annum, while servicing over 12.5 million consumers in North America, Europe and Australia.

Apple Pay integration is huge, especially since Canada’s big banks just started supporting the mobile wallet recently.
