Beer Xpress for iOS: Beer Pre-Orders from your iPhone

It’s not just the coffee: You can reserve your beer now and pick it up in-store. The Beer Store has announced that it has launched a new service called Beer Xpress in 25 pilot stores throughout Ontario.

What Beer Xpress brings is convenience: You don’t need to wait in line anymore, because you can pre-order your beer from your Mac or iPhone and it will then be reserved in any of the participating 25 stores. After that, you just walk into the store, pay, and pick up your beer. How simple is that?

“We’re delighted to offer a digital solution that will enhance the overall customer experience. We have introduced our mobile application and in-store touch screens (Pricing Information Centres) in recent years and Beer Xpress is the latest digital innovation for customers to enjoy,” said Ted Moroz, President of the Beer Store. “Today’s Beer Store offers modern and exciting experiences – we have 25 Ontario-based brewer owners all committed to improving the shopping experience every day. We intend to learn from these pilot stores so we can improve the experience and offer this service in more stores across the province.”

Beer drinkers can pre-order their beer on the Beer Store’s website – www.thebeerstore.ca – by choosing a brand or by selecting something that’s on sale, container type, and more. Or they can download the app from the App Store.

The Beer Store offers roughly 650 brands provided by 136 brewers. Is your beer among them?

How does this make sense? Only unless it lets you jump the line up? If not, 100% pointless. I can walk into the store, place an order in two words. 24 Coors, Pay and pick up. No value to this app. The only way this works is if there is a pre-order pickup line and app lets you pay in advance.
