The venue of the nine-month curriculum, which has been designed by and will be supported by Apple, is a facility located on the new Campus in San Giovannie a Teduccio. Students will have access to labs and the latest Apple hardware and software.

“We are thrilled to be working with Universita’ di Napoli Federico II to launch the first iOS Developer Academy in Europe,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO.

“Some of the most creative developers in the world come from Europe, and we are confident this center will help the next generation get the skills they need for success,” stated Rector Gaetano Manfredi.

During the first semester, students will improve their knowledge and software development skills, while during the second semester they will attend courses on the creation of startups and app design, collaborate among themselves, and develop apps that could ultimately hit the App Store.

Plans for the iOS Developer Academy were announced by Apple CEO Tim Cook and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi back in January, as the App Store has created an entirely new industry employing more than 1.2 million people across Europe. Apple has paid nearly €10 billion to European developers.

Students who’d like to attend the courses of the first iOS Developer Academy can apply at www.unina.it. First, they will take an online test in Italian or English, and successful applicants will move to the interview stage.
