Incipio Acquires Griffin Technology, Makers of Apple Accessories

Incipio announced this morning it has acquired fellow rival Griffin Technology, makers of numerous popular Apple accessories. No terms of the deal were disclosed.

Andy Fathollahi, Founder and CEO of Incipio Group, said in a statement “As part of Incipio Group, Griffin strengthens our product development and manufacturing capabilities, complements our existing product lines in rugged cases, power and connectivity, and allows our brands to reach a broader domestic and international audience through enhanced distribution in the business-to-business, enterprise and education verticals.”

The companies note Griffin will continue to operate as a standalone brand, with headquarters to remain in Nashville, Tennessee.

In June, Incipio bought Skullcandy, while last year it acquired Incase.

Apple accessory makers just keep acquiring each other. Earlier this year, ZAGG engulfed iPhone battery pack maker Mophie for $100 million.

You can’t blame these companies for merging all the time, especially with the proliferation of cheaper alternatives from China popping up everywhere. The accessories business ain’t easy, as there’s a lot of competition out there.
