New Leaked Photos Show iPhone 7 Plus’ Chassis, Captured From Assembly Line

Newly posted leaked photos allegedly reveal the external chassis of the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus, which is said to have a dual-lens camera and ship without a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The images were posted by nowhereelse.fr and they corroborate earlier reports that showed the rear case of the device. The design is consistent with other rumours, showing two camera sensors and separation strips for more discrete antennas.

However, the traditional switch for mute/silence, whose removal was mentioned in the past, is still present. In contrast to the last few rumours, this leak does not show the Smart Connector on the back of the device.

Apple is expected to announce and launch the iPhone 7 next month, with pre-orders reportedly starting on Friday, September 9 and retail availability beginning on Friday, September 16.

While I like generally like the idea of getting rid of as many buttons as possible, the physical mute switch is one of my favorite things about the iphone. It’s something you want to be able to do quickly with your eyes closed if necessary. I had a Samsung many years back (in terms of smart phone history), and I hated muting the phone through software.
