Tim Cook Suggests AirPods Won’t Fall Out Even While You Dance

Airpods

Now that the AirPod reviews are in – the verdict is mostly positive when it comes to sound – and the design choice has sparked a few noteworthy comments from all corners, it was the time for Apple CEO Tim Cook to speak about his experience with AirPods (via CNET).

Some may know that Cook loves to dance, so, for some (unknown) reason, he used the AirPods while dancing.

“I’ve been on treadmills, walking, doing all the things you normally do. You know how you walk around with the earbuds and they’re constantly getting caught on something? You never have that problem. (…) The wires tend to help the earbud fall out,” Cook said in an interview with ABC News.

Does this involve dancing? Possibly. Or maybe not: ABC News says Cook “joked about dancing with them.” You may wonder: Why would anyone use AirPods while dancing?

Cook apparently wants to address one aching point of the latest Apple accessory: the majority of reviewers note that you may want to be careful with them, because those expensive AirPods may fall out. Cook says, he’s never personally had one fall out.

Nice try. I would’ve if they were $160. I am actually considering buying BeatsX, just waiting for reviews. Same W1 chip and fast charge.

beatsX is the one to get for sure; Wired; magnets to clamp around your next; W1; apple made; the works

Yeah! Also, a 2 hour charge in 5 minutes is very convenient. Helpful during those spontaneous movements when you just have to get out and go for a run!

I’m looking forward to a review. And I hope they include a sound quality review and not just the connectivity review.

There was a reference to a review posted a couple of days ago where someone tried them out and was head-banging and doing her utmost to make them fall out. But they wouldn’t.

I’m more worried about travelling, especially my daily commute in trains. It can get crowded. I fear a whisk, or someone bumping in the crowd by mistake, may knock them off (of course, we’ll have to wait for the real user reviews for that). I have also observed that – for me at least – chewing loosens up the earphones too. Not enough to make them fall out but enough to, well, loosen them, acting as catalyst for the fall.

Also, another thing I am concerned about is: during our dear old Canadian winters when it is cold and windy, Apple’s EarBuds, since made of solid plastic get very (very) cold and impossible for me to put in my ears for listening to music and surely not meant to double as ear plugs and block the wind.

If you turn up the volume really, really loud, the vibrations will cause them to heat up and keep your ears toasty.
Warning: tinnitus sucks.

Wear a toque and it’ll hold your earbuds securely in place underneath

Personally I never have a problem with the EarPods falling out unless the wires get caught on something and then either they get ripped from my ears, or my phone gets pulled from my pocket. From the looks of it the AirPods are the same size so they should fit just as well for me.
