2016 iTunes Connect Holiday Shutdown: December 23 to 27

Every year, Apple gives its hardworking iTunes Connect staff a break for the holidays. This year, the team which approves and monitors iOS app submissions and updates, will see a holiday shutdown from December 23 to 27 (Pacific Time), according to the company. This means new apps and updates submitting during this period will not be accepted.

Apple says “the busiest season on the App Store is almost here. Make sure your apps are up-to-date and ready for the winter holidays.” In other words, get your app updates and releases setup ahead of time before the holiday period.

Typically, we see prominent developers discount apps head of the shutdown period, to skyrocket to the top of free and paid charts. This clever move gains plenty of eyeballs during the holidays from new iOS device owners.

Usually we see EA discount numerous iOS titles to $0.99 or free, while apps such as 1Password for Mac and Windows will go on sale. Also, keep an eye out again for App Santa, which has award-winning apps go on sale for up to 80% off for Christmas.

Apple announced their 2015 holiday season was the biggest ever for the App Store, which saw customers spend over $1.1 billion on apps and in-app purchases, in two weeks ending January 3, 2016.
