Apple Denies Reports of iPhone 6 Battery Replacement Program

Montrealbattery 2

Japanese blog Macotakara recently reported that an imminent iPhone 6 battery exchange program was in the works, though it did not cite any particular source or reason for the speculation. However, a source inside Apple corporate has told AppleInsider that no such program is planned so far, since there is no justification for a wide program to fix the unexpected shutdown issues.

“We constantly evaluate service statistics,” one source inside Apple corporate said. “There are no plans or grounds for a wide iPhone 6 battery exchange program at this time.”

The source adds that it has also not found any significant departure from expected norms in over six months of collated service data provided by 40 Apple stores across the US. They also enquired some local Apple retail stores, who all claimed to know of nothing in the works, or any upcoming iPhone 6 battery replacement program.

Back in November, Apple announced a battery replacement program for select iPhone 6s owners, although a growing number of iPhone 6 and 6s users with devices not previously identified as faulty, are also experiencing the same issue.

They’re denying a “wide” iPhone 6 replacement program. Doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t offer a limited one like the 6s program.

I think the 6s program was considered “wide”, as opposed to a case by case, which would be limited.

Yesterday my 6 (with an Apple battery pack attached) had drained to 19%, I plugged it in and the battery immediately jumped to 92%. I took it out of the charger and it dropped to 30%. Don’t know why it didn’t use the battery pack juice first. But have been having issues with my battery for close to a year now. It was one of the reasons I bought the battery pack in the first place.

Still, I am always shocked about Apple’s arrogance. They make their phones so damn thin that battery cannot last a day for alot of users, and then offer us the possibility to pay an extra 130$ to get a case that will make the phone bigger and thicker to get the battery we desperately need.

can’t they just make the phone 1-2mm thicker so I get a good battery life ?!

I have the exact same issues with my 6. I can’t even pull it out on a cold winter day. I went out for a walk with it at 90+% with it plugged into a portable battery pack and it died with battery low indicator. Get back inside and instantly goes back up.

i had these issues and i had apple care. i called up, talked thru the issue. they made me restore the OS. i left it like this for 3 days, still the same issue. called them back, and they sent me another phone. the csr told me that the battery is know to do this (drain to a low percentage, and when you plug it in, jump to a high percentage) when it has a problem. so i am guessing that they will replace if you have apple care, but if not, you are out of luck.

Similar issue with my iPhone 6. Even last winter when I went skiing it did some strange things; suddenly powering down but then after 10 minutes powering back up was fine. Something about the cold affected it. So later this past fall with my warranty expiring soon I started a call with AppleCare. Long story short – sometimes their diagnostics say things are fine but they are actually not. In the end, I got a replacement device. Now my battery is at 50-70% by the end of the day depending on usage where previously it would drop to 30% or lower by the end of the day.

That is completely normal that if you go out at winter temperatures and go skiing your phone will lose its battery really fast. Its lithium-ion related and every phone has this ”issue”.

this is normal

Last time users complained about short and erratic battery life on one of their products they responded with taking away the time-remaining battery meter. Maybe they’re working on one of those “software solutions” for our iPhones too.

I’ve recently got my phone replaced with cost of battery replacement because I was outside my warranty period with my iPhone 6. Apple reviews these on a case-by-case basis. It did take me a few trips to the Apple Store and several diagnostics before the replacement. Yet, Apple still could not figure if it was a battery issue or a hardware issue or software issue. However, with that many similar issues out there in the Apple Community, I feel that Apple should do a ‘wide’ battery replacement with the 6 as well. it can’t be by coincidence that that many phones all decide to go haywire at the same time.

My iPhone 6S battery is catastrophic. Barely make it to 6hours of usage while Push notifications are off and background app refresh off too. Still, Apple changed my battery but that did not solve the problem. I guess it may be a motherboard/chip issue ?

anyways, that is affecting my experience with the phone really badly.
