One of the most anticipated tech events is the 10th anniversary iPhone release. Supply chain sources speaking with TrendForce reveal that one of the three models launching this year will feature an AMOLED display, which is in line with previous rumours.

TrendForce expects the production volume of the next-gen iPhone to reach 100 million units, with the version equipped with AMOLED display taking the lion’s share. This will also contribute to an annual increase of 6% in iPhone production volume.

The high-end iPhone with AMOLED display — which by the way is rumoured to be retailing for $1,000 — will sport a 5.8-inch display and 2K in resolution, 3GB of DRAM and will come in two storage options: 64GB and 256GB, according to supply chain sources. It seems as though the curved display will not materialize this year, because there have been issues with the 3D glass in terms of production yield and drop-test results.

Another standout feature for the next high-end iPhone will be the removal of the physical home button as the related functions will be integrated into the display. The disappearance of the home button will make the device more compact without sacrificing the display area. Therefore, the display aspect ratio of the next high-end iPhone could exceed 2:1, while the phone’s overall body size could be similar to that of the next 4.7-inch model.

The handset will also incorporate 3D sensing technology which enables facial recognition and features related to augmented reality (AR).

The other two models, will come in two sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, respectively, just like the currently available models. The Plus model will have 3GB of memory, while the regular model will have 2GB, and both will sport a maximum storage of 256 GB.
