iPhone 8 Dummy Model Shows Off Stunning Edge-to-Edge Display

Images showing an iPhone 8 dummy unit were published today by Benjamin Geskin on Twitter. The photos show an iPhone made of glass and stainless steel, which has an edge-to-edge display with no apparent bezel.

Notably missing from the unit is a Touch ID sensor and the Apple logo at the back. The images show off the rumoured vertically mounted dual-camera system on the rear of the device.

In recent weeks it seems like the number of proposed candidates for Apple’s next flagship device has narrowed to two, with the main difference being how they handle Touch ID. One side of the rumour mill believes that Apple will offer a virtual Touch ID button beneath the display. However, the other side predicts that Apple will include a physical Touch ID button on the back of the device.

It appears that the only reason the second candidate even exists is that Apple may be having problems manufacturing the integrated Touch ID button.

It’s for taking photos horizontally as they should be.

There’s nothing wrong in taking vertical photos. Photographers have been doing that for over a century!

The problem is with vertical videos, which don’t have the right aspect and end up being letterboxed on TVs and on YouTube. I hate those!

Agreed for the video, but majority of the time I prefer landscape over portrait for photos as well.

What are you talking about…. The camera orientation rotates as you turn your phone vertically or horizontally anyways, what difference does it make? You can say the same thing for the 7 Plus. What the hell?

No difference on functioning, but obviously big difference with the internal hardware layout. That’s what I would expect if this is design is true.

I’m not a hundred percent sure but I think it might be a physiological thing… please correct me if I’m wrong

I think on MacRumours there’s an article saying it’s for the augmented reality features.

I know it’s only a dummy phone, maybe not even the real design, but I cannot help but notice there’s no LED for camera flash.

bottom of the first picture in iPhone reflection, you can see the face of the person taking the pic… it appears he’s wearing a batman-style mask… hahahaha

You mean the first pic on the right? The guy was taking photo with another phone. What you saw were only his fingers…

nope, the first picture, the bottom on iPhone chassis, you got to zoom in all the way to max to see what I am talking about 🙂

Sorry, is it just me or just my monitor? You mean the pic on the left? Yeah, I can see there is someone at the bottom, but the image is so vague and pixelated even I magnified it. I cannot see if it’s a male or female, not to mention if there is a batman mask…

I’m using a 21.5″ iMac… 🙁

Anyway, a batman mask is better than a Trump’s mask. 😛

With so many 3-D printers these days, that could be made anywhere to pass off as authentic. Personally I’m not a big fan of Stainless steel for the chassis, and would scuff up just like my Apple Watch.

In what way is it “stunning”? I’m assuming that wasn’t the original headline of this article.

Without an actual screen on there, the front doesn’t look any different from other iPhones except that it’s missing a button.
