Koodo Targets Public Mobile Customers with $10 Monthly Bill Credit to Switch Over

TELUS-owned Koodo Mobile is offering a promotion targeting its sister brand Public Mobile, which teases a tantalizing $10 per month off for 12 months ($120 in savings), if customers of the latter switch over, reports MobileSyrup:

Individuals who visit a Koodo Mobile retail location and ask the carrier to port their number from Public Mobile will get $10 off per month for 12 months on select postpaid plans. The promotion is only available in-store.

TELUS and Koodo Mobile customers are typically on postpaid plans, whereas Public Mobile is all prepaid, with customer service and self-serve all online.

Looks like TELUS is trying to reel in some Public Mobile customers to move them to postpaid, but they should know by now once you switch to Public Mobile, it’s hard to switch back, as the latter can be much cheaper (e.g. the promo $38/4GB plan).

Currently, Public Mobile is targeting Freedom Mobile customers to switch over, as the company has brought back their popular $38/4GB (after Autopay) plan for a limited time. A comparable $40 plan with Koodo? It would only come with 500MB of data.

Last month, Koodo Mobile announced their Koodo Self Serve iPhone app would be shutting down this month. The app will be cease to operate on June 30, 2017, because “Customers have increasingly showed us their preference for our mobile site to manage their account, and less and less are using our Self Serve app.”

Ok,but on what plan? I hope not their advertised plans, after a year it would suck lol Evenwith the $10 it wouldn’t be great.

I’ll stick to Public Mobile

I guess a mod over at the PM community said it’ll only be available to legacy PM customers. So not quite the story it seemed to be at first.

If they really wanted to entice switchers (and retain existing users), they’d offer more data, not a paltry credit that in no way makes up for a higher-priced plan.
