Tim Hortons Mobile Order App to Be Funded with Virtual Tim Cards

Tim Hortons fans can expect the company’s highly anticipated mobile order and pay app launch to come this Thursday, July 27th, as previously confirmed by a franchisee.

According to our sources familiar with the Tim Hortons mobile order and pay app, users will be funding orders with payments through their Tim Card. Employee training documents seen by iPhone in Canada detail the following:

  • Once users place an order, the total amount is deducted from the existing balance from a virtual Tim Card.
  • Payment for orders are completed within the app and not at the restaurant, employees are told.
  • Customers have the option to setup auto reload of funds within the app, funded by a credit card, with a minimum top-up requirement of $10.

Training documents reiterate to employees to make sure “guests have a great mobile guest experience!”

Sources also note employees will begin making orders once customers are about three minutes away from stores, to ensure food and beverages are still fresh and hot.

The Tim Hortons mobile order and pay app won’t have in-app Apple Pay support at launch, but we are told it may come eventually. Starbucks for iOS supports Apple Pay within the app, allowing customers to easily and quickly reload card balances or to pay for orders.

The original launch timeline for the Tim Hortons mobile order app was this spring, but the debut was delayed as franchisees opposed the launch, citing lack of proper training and other app logistics, but those concerns appears to be smoothed out now.

Stay tuned as we’ll keep you up to date on the launch of the Tim Hortons mobile order and pay app. Let’s hope you won’t end up waiting in line at the mobile order pick up counter now…
