Fido to Increase 4GB Promo Plan from $40 to $45 per Month

According to a new report from MobileSyrup, Fido will increase the price of its 4GB promo plan from $40 to $45 per month.

The carrier has said that the new price will start on September 15th. Fido has already started notifying users about the increase via their last monthly bill.

“The monthly service fee for your Bring Your Own Phone plan will be increasing by $5 to $45/month (plus applicable taxes), as of the date of your first bill on or after September 15, 2017. We regularly review and make adjustments to our plans to reflect ongoing network and service investments so that we can continue to deliver the best possible customer experience to you. All other aspects of your Fido service will remain the same. This change is made in accordance with the CRTC Wireless Code.”

They always tell us the same thing which at best are half truths. Data bandwidth is cheap. We should be getting more for less.

Yes, I’ll be affected. This makes me wonder if I should have switched to Public Mobile plan that time when it was offered for $38 per month which Fido countered with $40 plan to keep the users from switching.

Reach out to Fido via Facebook Messenger and tell them you’re “inconvenienced” by this change – they’ll probably throw some goodie at you.

Sucks for those affected by this. It doesn’t seem like the 2015 34$/2GB and 2016 40$/2GB are changing so our household is safe for now (we have a 2GB bonus for 24 months, too).

I had a Virgin $40 4GB plan and called the other day and mentioned that I’m thinking of switching to the latest Freedom offer and they offered me a additional 2GB for $5 bucks….$45 for 6GB of data…Not bad in my opinion…Freedom’s plan is still better but when you account their coverage…..

I was on Messenger with Fido today as I am quite perturbed by this but the best they would give me is a $5 discount per line for the next 9 months. I’ll use this time to see if it is worth going elsewhere as the Public Mobile stuff has been sounding interesting for the last while. Fido is so eager to text me when I cross the border, or they enable new roaming features, sure aren’t as excited to text me when they want to increase my bill, just a little message inserted into my statement.

This happened to me as well. 9 months is all they offered. I am so angry about this change. Its not right. Its different if all the plans were being adjusted. I would have never gone with this plan if I knew they were going to increase the price. Its not about the plan to me its just the fact that they are raising the price and they won’t even offer me anything. I will definitely be leaving. If this is what the company does to their customers why would we stay . What they wrote in the disclaimer makes no sense. Its such bull. They think saying this “We regularly review and make adjustments to our plans to reflect ongoing network and service investments so that we can continue to deliver the best possible customer experience to you”

Do they think we are idiots and fall for nonsense like this. its like a kick in the face.

Hi, do you know what promo or code they put for the 9 months price adjustment. A family friend told me they are offering 9 months and they only gave me 6 months despite telling them that others got 9 months. They were not listening to my concern at all and it was really unfair because the family friend called a few minutes before me and another called 2 hours before. I was very dissatisfied as well. I even spoke to the manager and he would not offer me 9 months. I have 4 lines under my plan, so I would be essentially be paying $60 more than my family friends for the 3 months.

I found out I was charged $5 dollar extra for the month of September and I was so shocked about it. I called the customer service and was told that it was stated on my August bill about the increase of the $5 dollar on my $40 Bring Your Own Phone Plan. I was extremely unhappy, disappointed, and unsatisfied about Fido. It is very tricky and it just increased the charge for by saying excuses like “review and make adjustments to our plans to reflect ongoing network and service investments so that we can continue to deliver the best possible customer experience to you.” I am so sure that when I switched to Fido, the staff told me that the plan and the price will not be changed. Now after less than a year, it was just changed for no reason and who knows after another 6 to 8 months Fido will increase another $5 dollar on the plan. I lined up for 4 hours to get this $40 plan and expected no changes on the plan. If Fido cannot offer or promise the $40 plan for a certain period of time, you should let the customer know in the beginning, if I know it is only for a short-term, I will not line up for 4 hours switching my plan to Fido. I am hoping Fido can keep the promise of the $40 plan or otherwise I will switch to another plan and not going to use Fido anymore. It is so tricky and I am not feeling comfortable of the price increasing.
