SaskTel to Spend $4.3 Million for LTE Upgrades in 6 Saskatchewan Cities

SaskTel announced it plans to invest $4.3 million in Saskatchewan to upgrade wireless sites in Moose Jaw, North Battleford (and Battleford), Prince Albert, Swift Current, Weyburn, and Yorkton to faster LTE.

Swift Current will be the first city to benefit from the LTE upgrade, set to go live on October 2, 2017, while the remaining cities will see LTE installed and turned on before March of next year.

“SaskTel constantly reviews and evaluates opportunities to enhance the services they offer,” said Joe Hargrave, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a statement. “This most recent investment is yet another example of SaskTel’s commitment to provide the people of Saskatchewan with the leading-edge technologies that are necessary in today’s ultra-connected world.”

The wireless carrier currently has Apple’s iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus available, with iPhone X to follow soon when it launches.

SaskTel’s LTE footprint now covers 99% of the province’s population.
