Virgin Plus Brings Back $45/20GB Plan for a Limited Time

Two days after Virgin Plus dropped its $45 CAD per month 20GB plan, the Bell-owned flanker brand has put it back on sale. The $45/20GB bring-your-own-device plan is listed again on Virgin Plus’s website, this time carrying the note: “New activations only. Price includes $10/mo. Autopay credit. Offer ends October 13”.

Virgin Plus quietly removed the $45/20GB plan earlier this week, leaving the $50 CAD per month 60GB plan as the cheapest non-Basic data option for new customers. The return of the 20GB tier gives anyone who balked at paying $5 more for triple the data another shot, at least until October 13.

The revived 20GB plan is not the only rollback with a clock on it. Virgin Plus’s talk-and-text plan, which was raised from $25 to $30 just days ago, is back at $25 CAD per month, also with an “Offer ends October 13” note. The two 60GB plans are unchanged: $50 per month for Canada-wide 5G and $55 per month for the Canada-U.S.-Mexico option, neither carrying an expiry date. Prices on the data plans below include the $10 per month autopay credit and apply to new activations only.

For context, this is the same $45 price the 20GB plan sold for before it was cut, and the same price Fido and Koodo have listed for their 20GB tiers in our October flanker roundup. Virgin Plus previously raised prices by $5 across the board in July, and parent company Bell pushed its own BYOD prices higher earlier this week, so the brief disappearance and quick return of the 20GB tier looks more like offer churn than a lasting price cut. The October 13 expiry lands right after Thanksgiving weekend, which is when carriers often rotate in holiday promos.

Existing customers were never affected by the plan removal, and the same holds for the return: anyone who grabs the $45/20GB tier before the deadline keeps it regardless of what Virgin Plus does on October 13. Shoppers who only need around 20GB have a narrow window to lock in the lower price rather than paying for 60GB they won’t use.

Watch what happens when the October 13 clock runs out. If the 20GB plan disappears again, the real question is whether Fido and Koodo hold their own $45/20GB options as Black Friday approaches, or whether all three flankers land on the same pricier lineup ahead of the holidays.
