Toronto Maple Leafs Add 375,000+ Fans on Twitter in One Year

Over the past year, the Toronto Maple Leafs have gained more than 375,000 followers on Twitter.

The increase in followers could be due to all-star and Calder Trophy winner Auston Matthews. It could also be due to the fact that the team made the playoffs last year after an incredible season.

In comparison with one of their original rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs have 1.13x more followers than the Montreal  Canadians and gained 1.12x more followers than the Montreal Canadians in the past 12 months.

The most followed Maple Leafs players are three “vets” on the team, stealing the show from @Marner93 and @AM34:

  1. James van Riemsdyk, Toronto Maple Leafs (@JVReemer21)
  2. Nazem Kadri, Toronto Maple Leafs (@43_Kadri)
  3. Tyler Bozak, Toronto Maple Leafs (@Bozie42)

However, @Marner93, @AM34 and @wmnylander were among the top ten most mentioned players on Canadian teams during the 2016/2017 season.

To follow the action with the Maple Leafs this season, keep upon Twitter to see how they climb up the standings to the #StanleyCup.

Didn’t the leafs delete everyone at the end of last year? That might explain it …

I’m not a Leaf fan by any stretch and think that they over achieved last year. Not sure they can match that this year. That being said, if they stick to their plan, they will be an amazing team in about two or three years. They’ve done it the right way for once. They will be better than the Habs this year. #GoSensGo

I don’t think they overachieved as much as people underestimated them. I think this year they will make the postseason again but before game eighty two and possibly win a round. The Sens have to get Karlsson back. He’s the backbone of the team plus I love watching him play. The Habs are in all kind of trouble, no scoring questionable d outside of Weber but a world class goalie. If he goes down, they go down.

I wasn’t a Karlsson fan until last year, when he became more of a team player instead of an individual. He is a beast. Wish we could grab Duchenne, we lack scoring as well (but better than the Habs), Colorado is asking way too much, although Ottawa seems to be the leading contender for him. Leafs will be the Oilers of the east soon and displace the Pens. Not looking forward to that 😉 from a fan perspective, but it will be great hockey to watch.

I agree talent wise it’s the best the NHL has seen since the eighties. There are so many talented players throughout the whole league.
