Nvidia’s ‘GeForce Now’ for Mac Beta Launches in Canada: Play Free Games at 1080p/60 fps

Nvidia has launched GeForce Now for Mac beta in Canada and the U.S., offering users the opportunity to play games on their Mac, connected to an instant, on-demand “powerful GeForce GTX gaming PC in the cloud.”

The company says you can play games you own with the GeForce NOW app, with GeForce Now allowing Mac users to play games their machines would not otherwise support, “with amazing visual quality.”

Currently, there are over 50 popular games from Steam available, with more being added regularly. You need to own or purchase games to play, which will allow you to play games at their maximum settings, which may not be possible on your Mac otherwise.

GeForce Now requires macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher—the full list of supported Mac models can be viewed here. Internet requirements are a minimum 25 Mbps download speed, but 50 Mbps or higher is recommended.

This beta right now is free, but once it ends the service will move to a pay-as-you-go model. Click here to sign up and let us know how it goes. PC users are out of luck for now, but can join the company’s waitlist for notifications.
