Apple’s HomePod Ships With 2 Metre, User-Replaceable Power Cable

Looking at some of Apple’s HomePod photographs, it appeared that smart speaker’s power cord was attached inside the unit and fixed in place, which got some people worried that accidental damage to the cord would mean needing to pay for a repair on the whole unit. Fortunately though, that’s not the case as the unit ships with a 2 metre long removable and user-replaceable power cable (via 9to5Mac).

“The HomePod will come with a 2 meter (6 foot) power cable in the box; it’s slightly strange that Apple’s Tech Specs page for HomePod does not mention the power cord being ‘In the Box’ but the Apple Store rep assured us it is there.”

The included power cord is color-matched black or white depending on what model you order. While Apple has not yet listed any accessories for the HomePod on its website, the device itself is now available for pre-order online in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.

An Apple representative has however confirmed that customers will be able to buy additional power cables for HomePod through Apple Support once the device delivers, i.e. from February 9 onwards. Pricing for the HomePod power cable is also not known at this time.

Did you order a HomePod from Apple.com today? Unfortunately HomePod hasn’t launched in Canada and there’s no ETA as to when we will see it locally.

I thought it had a battery and could be used wirelessly, but I guess that’s not the case. I ordered one in the UK.

If you’ve ever used Siri as a Canadian, you will know that the reason the HomePod isn’t releasing the Canada yet is because Siri can’t understand Canadian English yet. Only American. She reminds me of it often.
