Apple Picks Up ‘Little America’ Anthology TV Series About Immigrants and Their Stories

According to a new report from Deadline Hollywood, Apple has signed another deal for video content. This time, Apple has picked up an anthology series focusing on immigrants in the United States.

The series will feature half-hour episodes chronicling the lives of recent immigrants into the United States. The immigrants’ stories in “Little America” will be culled from the real-life accounts from Epic Magazine.

The report calls the stories selected for publication “a small, collective portrait of America’s immigrants — and thereby a portrait of America itself.”

Kumail Nanjiani of “Silicon Valley” and wife Emily V. Gordon, both wrote “The Big Sick” and will partner again to write the show. Gordon and Nanjiani’s “The Big Sick” was the highest-grossing indie film of 2017.

The Worldwide Video division has been growing at a rapid pace, including not just new executives but significant real estate investments. Apple is expected to debut a small slate of high-budget TV shows in 2019, available to anyone with a compatible device, instead of just Apple Music subscribers as with earlier, low-budget shows like “Carpool Karaoke.”

Apple is expected to distribute the material through the TV app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
