Instagram Quietly Launches Native Payment Option for Some Users

According to a new report from TechCrunch, Instagram quietly launched a new in-app payment feature for some users.

The payments feature allows users to add a credit or debit card with the option of an additional pin for additional security. After the initial setup, users will be able to make purchases on Instagram. Some users that have the feature were able to make appointments and reservations via integration with third-party app Resy.

The company originally said they would launch a feature that allowed users to make appointments via the app in 2017, however, it appears that promise slipped. The rollout for this feature is just starting now to some users in a testing phase.

Many influencers on Instagram should be able to use this feature to expand their revenue streams to more users. This will also be a way for businesses to gain more customers.
