Sonos Event Set for June 6, Many Expect New Home Theatre Speaker to Debut
Sonos has sent out invites to press and other publications about a special event set to take place next month in San Francisco, California, on June 6th.
The Sonos invite pictured below shows a variety of entertainment remote controls, along with the caption “You’re better than this,” according to an email sent to iPhone in Canada by the company:

No word on what’s coming, but a recent FCC filing by Sonos revealed what appears to be a smart home theater speaker with an HDMI port, with integrated Alexa voice controls. The device description in the filing read “The model S14 is a high-performance all-in-one home theater smart speaker and part of Sonos’ home sound system.”
Apple is set to hold WWDC from June 4-8 in San Jose, so there’s a good chance we will see the final release of iOS 11.4 by that time, allowing Sonos to finally announce AirPlay 2 support for its Sonos One smart speaker (and Google Assistant support as well).
Sonos currently offers the Playbar and Playbase for home theatre customers, along with a 5.1 home theater system bundle which features Playbar, the company’s sub and a pair of Sonos Play:1 speakers for the rear.
We’ll have all the announcements from this June 6th event, so stay tuned.
