Freedom Mobile Modifies Roaming Service Structure, Introduces New Add-Ons

Today, Freedom Mobile announced that it has removed its $20 per month U.S. roaming service add-on. In lieu of this, the company is now offering $5 per day roaming, which is similar to the rest of Canada’s telecoms.

The carrier is now offering an add-on called ‘Big Gig Roam Extra’ that allows users to pay $5 per day to get extra data, unlimited texts, unlimited U.S. calls, and unlimited calls back to Canada. Freedom Mobile is offering this add-on service in three different tiers:

  • 5 days with 1GB of data for $25
  • 10 days with 3GB of data for $50
  • 20 days with 10GB of data for $100

Unlike other Canadian carriers, Freedom does not give users access to their home data bucket while roaming. Therefore, the only data a user will have access to the additional data that they pay for.

The new add-on plan is also available for southern destinations as well, including Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Panama, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent & Grenadines, St. Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Turks & Caicos.
