City of Orillia Launches Mobile Parking App, Celebrates with $2 Off Promo Code

The City of Orillia, Ontario, has launched support for a new mobile parking app, to let residents and visitors pay for parking from their smartphones.

The PassportParking iOS app now supports Orillia for nearly 200 on-street spaces and close to 500 off-street metered spots.

To celebrate this mobile parking app launch, the first 400 users can save $2 off their parking by using promo code orillia.

The PassportParking app will let drivers pay for and extend parking remotely, get notifications when parking is about to expire, keep track of parking history and get emailed receipts. The app’s technology is also used by the City of Toronto, powering the Green P app.

“Orillia is fortunate to have a vibrant heritage downtown, rich in history and full of great places to shop, dine and explore. By introducing the PassportParking mobile app for downtown Orillia paid parking spaces, we are providing residents and visitors a simple, convenient way to pay for parking,” said Mayor Steve Clarke, in a statement.

According to the Downtown Orillia Management Board, 90% of sales downtown are either through debit or credit cards, so requiring change to pay for parking is a “deterrent to shop downtown”, as customers aren’t carrying coins anymore.

“The launch of the PassportParking app is another way in which the City of Orillia is leveraging technology to provide better customer service to residents, businesses and visitors,” said Shawn Crawford, Manager of Legislative Services.

The PassportParking app is available for iOS in the App Store and also in Google Play. Web management of parking is available at
