Apple Launches MacBook Air with Retina Display, Pricing from $1499 in Canada
Apple has just announced a new MacBook Air with…wait for it…a Retina display, finally. The new MacBook now includes Touch ID, a Force Touch trackpad, third generation backlit butterfly keyboard and more.
“The first MacBook Air revolutionized Mac with its thin wedge-shaped aluminum design. It forever changed the entire industry for portable computers and became the world’s most loved notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, in a statement.
The new MacBook Air also gets faster, wide stereo sound with more bass, plus Apple’s T2 Security Chip, two Thunderbolt 3 ports and comes in Space Grey, Gold and Silver.
The Retina display has over 4 million pixels, while the computer will get 8th generation Intel Core i5 processors, can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 1.5TB SSDs. The computer weighs less than before, at 2.75 pounds, while made from 100% recycled aluminum.
“Redesigning MacBook Air started with a stunning Retina display and all-day battery life, and then we added Touch ID and the Apple T2 Security Chip, the latest processors, incredible sound, the third-generation keyboard and Force Touch trackpad, high speed Thunderbolt 3 ports, and of course macOS Mojave in a beautiful, thinner, lighter, all-aluminum design that a whole new generation of MacBook Air customers are going to love,” added Schiller.
Apple also adds the Radeon Pro Vega Graphics option is coming to MacBook Pro next month, bringing up to 60% faster graphics.
The new MacBook Air starts at $1499 in Canada, or $1199 in the USA. Pre-order today and will launch on November 7, 2018.
