Amazon Signs Deal with Apple to Sell iPhones, iPads and More, But Not in Canada [u]

According to CNET, Amazon has confirmed it has signed a deal with Apple to sell the latter’s latest products, such as iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, Apple Watch Series 4 and Beats headphones.

“Amazon is constantly working to enhance the customer experience, and one of the ways we do this is by increasing selection of the products we know customers want,” an Amazon spokesperson told CNET this morning. “We look forward to expanding our assortment of Apple and Beats products globally.”

Amazon apple deal

The deal will see Amazon sites in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and India to start selling Apple products, with listings set to arrive “in the coming weeks.”

Yes, Canada is not part of this Amazon/Apple launch, but with so many countries part of the initial deal, there might be a slight chance in the future of seeing Apple products on Amazon here.

The new agreement means Apple and Beats products on Amazon will only be sold by Apple-Authorized resellers. Third party sellers have been told their listings will be removed after January 4, 2019.

Not all products will be listed from Apple, though. Apple’s HomePod won’t be available on Amazon, as it would compete against the latter’s Echo speakers. Amazon does not sell Google’s Home speakers either.

If Apple products do ever hit Amazon Canada, benefits would include Prime shipping speeds and easy returns. We’ve reached out to Amazon for comment on whether Canada will be included in this deal, and will update when we hear back.

Update: When asked about whether Amazon would sell Apple products in Canada, a company spokesperson told iPhone in Canada the following statement: “Amazon doesn’t comment on their future roadmap,” reiterating the deal only applies to the countries mentioned above.
