Carrot Rewards Launches ‘Carrot Plus’ Subscriptions to Earn Up to 10x Miles

Carrot Rewards updated their iOS app today to bring a redesigned home screen, while also introducing Carrot Plus subscriptions, allowing users to earn more miles by paying a monthly fee.

The free fitness program is a platform currently available in BC, Ontario and Newfoundland, which partners with reward programs such as Aeroplan, SCENE, Petro-Points, More Rewards, Drop points and RBC Rewards.

Back in August, Carrot Rewards said members had hit 1 trillion steps, while it stated it would launch across Canada on November 1, 2018, but that doesn’t appear to have happened yet.

Update: Carrot Rewards now says the nationwide roll out will take place in early 2019, as detailed in a response to iPhone in Canada reader @MarioGaucher in Quebec:

The redesigned home screen brings a ’tile’ layout for offers and featured stories and tips, instead of the previous carousel, which only showed one article or offer at a time.

Carrot Plus offers “more motivation to hit your Daily Step Goal with a faster way to earn. Increase your step rewards by 10x!”

Here are the three Carrot Plus paid tiers, offering 2x, 5x or 10x bonus rewards for those opted into Aeroplan miles:

  • Carrot Plus 2x: $1.99/mo or $19.99 annually
  • Carrot Plus 5x: $3.99/mo or $39.99 annually
  • Carrot Plus 10x: $5.99 or $59.99 annually

Carrot Plus subscriptions are billed to your iTunes account and will auto-renew unless disabled. Are paid subscriptions in exchange for bonus miles a bigger motivation to get walking? It may be cheaper to pay for Carrot Plus bonus rewards, than actually spending money at retailers to earn respective rewards/points. Somebody help me with the calculations here.

The Carrot Rewards app integrates into Apple Health data, while an Apple Watch app is also available.
