Leaked ‘iPad mini 5’ Case Shows Vertical Cutout for Camera and Flash

A couple of months back, veteran Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will be releasing the fifth-generation ‘iPad mini 5’ early next year and today, we’re seeing what could be the first ever leak related to the upcoming device, showing off a couple of interesting details (via 9to5Mac).

The alleged ‘iPad mini 5’ case shared on Twitter by @Slashleaks shows an oblong camera cutout that matches up with the new iPad Pro camera configuration.

It is quite possible the upcoming iPad mini features a flash to go along with its camera since the cutout is big enough to accommodate both the camera lens and the flash. Additionally, the rear microphone has been moved to the center of the device.

“It’s difficult to tell for sure, but it looks like a headphone jack cutout is included with this case in the top right corner (top left when looking at the front of an iPad mini).

There’s also what looks some kind of cutout in the middle of the device on the edge, bringing up the possibility for Apple’s first-gen smart connector. Although this could just be a functional part of the case not related to Apple’s hardware.”

According to Kuo’s predictions, the ‘iPad mini 5’ will feature “an upgraded processor and a lower-cost panel”, most likely without Face ID.
